I would like to inform you that on July 22nd, I will participate in the 2012 Toronto Festival Triathlon, where I will swim, cycle and run the Olympic distance in order to qualify for the 2013 Triathlon World Championships. As with all my athletic involvements in recent years, I am also trying to raise funds for the Autistic Societies of Trinidad and Tobago (in dire need for funds).
For more information about my participation in major sports events and other extreme adventures for the cause of autism, please visit my website: www.xtreme.ardavanis.com.
As you might know, autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. These signs all begin before a child is three years old. Autism affects information processing in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize; how this occurs is not well understood yet. The number of people diagnosed with autism has increased dramatically since the 1980s, partly due to changes in diagnostic practice; the question of whether actual prevalence has increased is unresolved.
The funds raised will be given to the Autistic Society of T&T, where they are going to be used in the upgrading of their facilities and the financing of professional workshops for the parents with autistic children in order to help autistic children to gain self-care, social, and communication skills by implementing early behavioral or cognitive intervention.
If you would like to help in this important cause, please contact us for your pledge, no matter how small it is. Philanthropy has no limits.

I want to sincerely thank you in advance for your participation and understanding, especially during these tough times.
